Environmental regulation and high-quality sustainable development of China's economy – an empirical study based on a spatial durbin model and threshold model

Coordinating and managing the contradictions among environment, resources economy is an urgent problem in China. Based on panel data of 30 provinces cities China from 2004 to 2017, this paper empirically studies impact environmental regulation China's high-quality economic development mediating effect mechanism through spatial Durbin model threshold model. The results show that shows a fluctuating upward trend, east higher than middle west. Environmental significantly inhibits development, but its moderated by accelerating industrial upgrading, promoting technological innovation, enhancing foreign direct investment. As primary driving force, innovation has significant spillover effect. upgrading no effect, investment have characteristics ‘U’ single threshold.
